Sinusitis, Snoring & Sleep Apnea
Nasal and sinus issues affect far more than breathing.
Chronic sinusitis, nasal congestion, snoring and sleep apnea are conditions that most people manage long-term without resolution. Steroid sprays, antihistamines and CPAP machines address the symptoms — they don't address the structural and neurological factors that are driving them.
Nasal Release Technique (NRT) is a specialised intervention that works directly with the nasal passages and cranial structures to restore normal airflow and drainage. It's one of the most effective — and least known — approaches available for people who have exhausted conventional options.
How the cranial structure affects breathing
The nasal passages, sinuses and upper airway are enclosed within and supported by the bones of the skull. Restrictions in cranial mobility — from trauma, birth, infection or postural habits — can narrow the nasal passages, impair sinus drainage and affect the mechanics of the upper airway during sleep. In children, these patterns often develop early and go unrecognised for years.
The sphenoid bone, which sits at the centre of the skull, has a direct relationship with sinus function, visual processing, hormonal regulation (via its relationship to the pituitary gland) and the overall rhythm of the craniosacral system. Restrictions here can have wide-ranging effects that go well beyond the sinuses.
How Dr Chase approaches it
NRT involves a carefully controlled inflation of a small balloon within the nasal passages, working with the natural sutures of the skull to restore mobility and open the airway. It sounds more confronting than it is — the procedure is brief, and most people notice an immediate difference in nasal patency and head pressure.
Sessions are typically part of a structured program — the NRT Series — which combines the technique with cranio-sacral therapy, lymphatic drainage and dry needling to address the full picture. For people with chronic sinus issues, snoring, sleep apnea, post-concussion symptoms or persistent head pressure, this program offers a genuinely different approach to the ones most have already tried.
If you've been dealing with chronic sinus issues, snoring or disrupted sleep and conventional approaches haven't provided lasting relief, the NRT Series may be worth exploring.
